Desktop

There are two recommended options for reading EBSCOhost ebooks via your Desktop.

1. Online Viewer: 

 

2. Thorium Reader

From 20th May 2026, EBSCOhost ebooks will be available to read via the Thorium Reader.

Please note: The Thorium Reader is not available for Mobile devices. See the alternative recommended Mobile options listed further below.

Follow the instructions or watch the following video for an overview of how to use the reader.

Thorium Reader Instructions

  • When accessing EBSOhost ebooks via the Library Search:

  •  Select the EBSCOhost Ebooks link to open your ebook 

  • Select the download option in the  EBSCOhost platform

 

OR

Open the ebook by selecting Access now (ebook) and Select the download option at the top of the page.   

Follow the download options for access

1. Select Full eBook.

2. Ensure the Recommended for Desktop option is selected (the Thorium reader is not available for mobile devices.)

3. Copy the Thorium Reader passphrase.

4. Download the ebook file

  • Open the downloaded ebook file in the Thorium Reader (you can drag and drop the ebook file into the Thorium app) and paste the passcode you copied.
  • Select Go to my publications and select the ebook to start reading. 
  • Use the Return option by selecting About publication when finished to allow other users access.

Although the Thorium Reader is currently unable to be used on mobile devices, EBSCOhost recommends the following Mobile options:
