Answer
Databases and other licensed resources: Conditions of use
The SAE Library resources, such as books, journal articles, or databases and their content, are in most cases protected by copyright and are often subject to licence agreements between the SAE University College and the content providers (publishers).
You must use the resources in compliance with copyright law and licence agreements.
Who can use the eresources?
Most databases and resources are available to all current SAE students and staff; however, some are restricted to a particular group of students (e.g. students enrolled in a specific course) or are only available in a particular location.
Permitted Uses
Authorised users, in most cases, MAY:
- Access content for personal, educational, or research purposes.
- Download, view, and print a reasonable portion of the materials.
- Use materials in coursework, classroom instruction, or within learning management systems (with proper attribution).
- Share a reasonable amount of the material with other scholars for collaboration and discussion.
Prohibited Uses
Users MAY NOT:
- Use SAE Library resources as an input to generative AI products or services.
- Systematically download or harvest large portions of content (e.g., entire journal issues or database collections).
- Remove copyright and proprietary notices from any printed or downloaded material.
- Share login credentials or provide access to unauthorised users.
- Use content for commercial purposes or redistribution.
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works without permission.
- Use automated tools (such as bots, scripts, or crawlers) to access resources.
Text and/or data mining is only allowed by some publishers. For appropriate advice, please contact the library team.
The full licence conditions are usually shown on the database website. Look for a link called "Terms of use", "Conditions of use" or Terms and conditions".
