How do I suggest a book purchase?

Who can suggest a purchase?

How do I submit the purchase request?

Answer

Current students and staff can suggest new titles of resources they think should be available to borrow. Librarians will consider the relevance of the material and, provided the material is within collection development policy guidelines, all recommendations will be considered for purchase as funds become available.

To suggest a purchase:

  1. Go to the Library Catalogue

  2. Search for the title of the item

  3. Select the 'Libraries Worldwide' checkbox

  4. Open the item record

  5. Click on the "Get a Copy" request link in the top right corner

  6. Fill out the form, selecting "I'd like this for the library"

  7. Submit the request form

If you are a staff member and would like to preview the book before the purchase request, you may ask the library to organise an interlibrary loan (to borrow the book from another library). For more information, see How do I request a print book loan from another library.
